Let’s be honest, everyone should know how to set up a VirtualBox., it is dead simple. The installation of Kali isn’t exactly hard either, it has got a install script. A simple Youtube search returns 3k+ results.
Tips and Tricks
- The full install of Kali requires a little bit more than 8GB of HDD space. The VirtualBox dynamic expand hard drive is set to 8GB as default. However, VirtualBox doesn’t expand the disk unless it is very close to full. Therefore when setting up the VirtualBox, use a minimum of 12GB of storage to ensure a smooth installation.
- When using reaver, you may find that reaver does not save and load any sessions. This is due to reaver not have a directory to write to. It can be easily fixed by mkdir /etc/reaver
